Camden Match and beyond

Submitted by Mark Rohman on Tue, 09/05/2006 - 15:21.

Greetings To All,

The Dirigo Club was well represented yesterday in Camden. We played a fine match against a Camden Town Team made up of primarily players from the stands. The Dirigos came back to win this game 12 to 7. We did beat the rain. It started coming down a bit harder during the bottom of the 8th but not enough to dampen our game or spirits. It was a well played match.

For those who couldn't make it, just a reminder, we have two more matches in September. The first one is next Saturday September 9th at Norlands Living History in Livermore Falls. We'll most likely be playing a double-header. The first game will be the Dirigos vs. The Turner Town team while the second will be a more laid back affair involving any of the cranks wishing to participate. The first game will start at 11:00 so try to be at the field by 10:30 at the latest. I plan on being there by 10:00 to set up the field. The other September game takes place on the 30th in Turner - time and location are TBA. One other game in October. Sunday October 8th in Danvers, MA. Brian Sheehy from the Essex club is putting together a day of mixed teams just for the pure enjoyment of the game. Also, a few of us will be going down representing the 3rd Maine Infantry as it is a combination 1860's Base Ball and Civil War event. Anyone wishing to participate is more than welcome. Please let me know.

Greetings All!!!

Despite the 8 - 3 loss to the Essex Club on Saturday June 17th the event was still a huge success. Our team played quite well despite many members playing for the first time. The guys from the Essex Club were once again true ambassadors of the game. They showed us how to play and explained the rules as we went along all the while playing the game with honor and good sportmanship. Thanks again to all those who could attend. For those who couldn't attend you missed a realy good time but you still have chances to partake in the great sport. We did pick up a few new interested folks. Some saw us in action on Saturday and some read about us in the Maine Sunday Telegram. If you have pictures please forward them to michael@mjohnson.net and he will post them to our website.
